Antropofagia Dub is a sonic journey where echo, reverb, and the subterranean vibration of dub merge with the inevitable pulse of the city. A programme that proposes an expanded mode of listening, digesting, reinterpreting, and reconfiguring urban sounds as an anthropophagic practice: devouring in order to create something new, resistant, and alive.
Honouring and drawing inspiration from dub’s origins and history of resistance, this programme claims a place for dub in a city increasingly consumed by real estate speculation, unchecked tourism, and growing hostility towards immigrants. The programme is dedicated to the history of dub, moving through African dub and its Brazilian, Jamaican, and London extensions — places where diasporas have always resisted and continue to do so.
Between tracks, the city of Porto makes itself heard — its pleasures and its violences — through sound archives and documentary recordings of urban life that echo, intertwine, and reverberate, much like dub itself.
