Paulo Vitor Castro, known artistically as Caxtrinho, is a 25-year-old musician from Belford Roxo, Rio de Janeiro. As a Black artist from the outskirts of the Baixada Fluminense, with deep roots in Afro-Brazilian religions, he turns music into a space for political reflection and aesthetic provocation, using the percussive sounds of his guitar as his distinctive hallmark.
By reinventing samba through an experimental lens and viewing Brazil from the perspective of the Baixada Fluminense – a territory so often rendered invisible – Caxtrinho created in Queda Livre a portrait of a Rio rarely seen in the media: closer to everyday life, more vibrant, and more real. Released by QTV Selo, the album is driven by a percussive guitar and compositions that merge pop with experimentation, always infused with swing and social critique. Across its tracks, Caxtrinho explores a wide spectrum of Brazilian popular music, leaving an unmistakable and original mark on each one.
