HHY & The Macumbas are an enigmatic anomaly of psych sounds. Hypnotic minimal melodic cycles, percussive rhythms that warp time and space, and echoes that hurt out towards the outer edges of the mind are all to be heard in their sound.
Over the course of 15 years and 3 albums (now 4), HHY & The Macumbas are charting their own Void, using rhythm as language, dub displacements, massed horns and bass pressure to build a palace that stands on the pillars of libidinal presence and time mutation.
Bom Sangue Mau, literally "Good Bad Blood", their new album to be released in the end of May, punches another hole in the nonlinear cosmos, recorded on stage like a show for an empty theatre, using a full soundsystem set up with lights a smoke. Using light and smoke as the visual cues for the sonic landscape.
